Body Spa uses Satin Smooth Titanium Blue hard wax and Deluxe Cream soft wax products. Satin Smooth Wax delivers superior performance, removing stubborn hair as short as 1mm (1/16”). Formulated to be very elastic and pliable, Satin Smooth Wax grips and shrink-wraps short hair for easy, effective and long lasting results. Our low temperature and gentle formulas provide nurturing and conditioning benefits for extra client comfort, leaving skin smooth and soft to the touch.

Your comfort is important to us. We take our time to ensure you are as comfortable as possible. For those ultra sensitive areas like the bikini line, face and underarms, we use a very gentle, soothing “hard wax.

How long does the hair need to be before I wax?

The wax/sugar we use at Body Spa is very gentle and can remove hair as short as 1mm. Please do not shave 4 weeks prior to waxing or sugaring service…please allow for hair to at least be as long as a grain of rice! If it’s to short the wax or sugar cannot grip the hairs effectively and we will have to reschedule your appointment. If you are waxing/sugaring the legs the hair should be a bit longer. 2mm or more is ideal.

What do I need to do before my appointment?

Do not use a scrub 24 hours before, day of or 24 hours after any hair removal service. Our organic, FDA approved, sugar body scrubs will help rid dead cells around skin pores and hair follicle, providing an easier exit. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells, ultimately allowing the hair to be removed more easily

What about after care?

Ask for our “Tamara’s Healing Oil” from the spa to take home with you to keep ingrown hairs down to a minimum. It’s also a great staple for your first aid kit to aide in the healing of scrapes, cuts and insect bites. Compared to other popular hair removal methods like shaving and depilitory creams, waxing/sugaring is quite kind to the skin and suitable for most sensitive areas of the body. Nevertheless, the waxing/sugaring hair removal method significantly reduces hair growth, so sessions are much less frequent than other hair removal practices.

I’ve never done this before… how bad does it hurt?

Let’s not kid ourselves. The first time you wax/sugar, it might be a little uncomfortable. But the benefits far out weigh the cons. Do you remember how it felt the first time you tweezed your eyebrows? It hurt! But after a couple of times it wasn’t so bad anymore. Well it’s the same with waxing/sugaring. After the first couple of times it just gets easier and easier. We have never had a client come in and say, “Gosh that was worse then I thought!” Our wax/sugar is so soothing and gentle you will NEVER want to pick up that razor again!
Purchase our “Bare Ease Lidocaine Cream” to take the edge off! It really helps!

Does medication effect waxing?

YES! You cannot be waxed/sugared, if you are taking Accutane, Retin-A or antibiotics or blood thinning medications.

Does waxing make the hair darker or more coarse?

No. The hair will grow back the same as before but there will be less of it.

How long will my skin be smooth after I wax/sugar?
Everyone is different, but you can expect to be smooth for at least 3 weeks before seeing any re-growth. Appointments are typically every 4 weeks.

Does tanning effect waxing/sugaring?
Yes! Please wait a couple of days in between your tanning and waxing/sugaring appointments. Your skin is very sensitive after sun exposure and we  cannot wax/sugar anyone that has been exposed to a lot of sun. Waxing/sugaring directly after tanning could lift the skin. Ouch!!!

Actually, Brazilian Waxing is a very famous and trendy hair removal method with the origin in Brazil. It was introduced to the western world when seven Brazilian sisters opened a Brazilian hair removal studio in New York (Manhattan) in 1987. Brazilian wax or also called Brazilian bikini waxing, caused a real hype in the United States and the rest of the western world. In the beginning, only a small group of women loved Brazilian waxing to remove hair in the bikini area, but soon a lot of famous Hollywood stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and others tried the Brazilian bikini wax and fell in love.
